Screen Printing
Screen printing (or silk screen printing) is a printing method where ink is pushed through a mesh onto the printing surface. The name silk screen printing comes from the fact that silk was previously used as the mesh, nowadays, however, the mesh is mostly made of polyester. Screen printing is a more versatile printing method compared to older methods – in screen printing, the printing surface does not need to be compressed or flat. (Source: Wikipedia, accessed 1.2.2010)
For screen printing, we need graphics in vector format. Suitable file formats for this are for example eps, ai, svg, or pdf (if the graphic is saved as vectors). Our graphic designers can make the conversion here (35 eur/h) if you do not have the image in a vector format. We do not charge for the work unless you accept the conversion. If you decide to order stickers from us, you will receive the vector file yourself. This means that you can use a high-quality print file for future print jobs as well. Color gradients cannot be printed with screen printing because the result is halftone. In some cases, this type of effect may be suitable for an image. In other words, screen printing is not suitable for e.g. photographs. For those, we recommend either offset printing or digital printing.
With screen printing, we mainly print the very popular Glossy Premium Vinyl. We also use screen printing for many of our special materials such as brushed aluminum and Pantone metallic color stickers.
You can check the materials and recommended uses of different printing methods here: material guide. Alternatively, you can send us a direct quote request and we will find together the suitable material and printing method combination for you!
The color space should be CMYK, and the color profile should be Japan Color 2001 Coated. Additionally, for both cutting paths inward and outward, you must leave a 2mm bleed. This ensures that the content of the sticker is safe.
